As an addition to the support we offer Young Parents in Kirklees, the holiday hunger grant enabled us to provide nutritious meals for young parent families throughout the summer holidays.

In 2024 we were fortunate enough to receive a £10,000 grant to support the continuation of our Young Parents Service. We are the only organisation in Kirklees to specifically support young parents aged 14 to 24 years.

Thanks to the support of Henry Smith, we have been able to create and expand a telephone befriending programme that reaches isolated parents/carers and provides weekly well-being checks and emotional support through trained volunteers providing a much-needed listening ear.

One Community have been a consistent support to Home-Start Kirklees over the years. They provide small grants to enable us to deliver various projects such as: supporting the mental health and wellbeing of parents, supporting households with budgeting and cooking on a budget to make healthy eating and food efficiencies.  

In 2022 we received a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund which spans 3 years. Due to this grant we have been able to respond to the significant impact the Covid 19 pandemic had on families experiencing isolation and loneliness.

Following the dissolvement of the Thriving Kirklees Partnership at the end of March 2024,  we have received funding this financial year from Kirklees Council to support targeted families who need support on a 1:1 basis in the home using our volunteer peer support model.
